He was born April 1, 1938, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Philip C. and Mildred (French) Smith. Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, berry picking and four wheeling were important aspects of his world. He was also a staunch supporter of the NRA. He is survived by his aunt, Nadine Sanborn, of Old Town and several cousins, including Alan Smith of Dover-Foxcroft, and a number of close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Richard, and his long-time companion, Madeline Campbell. The family would like to thank the staff of New Beginnings and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care and quality of life they provided Jerry.
