Greenville- Ruth Markey Lavigne, 90, wife of the late Roland Lavigne, passed away June 11, 2016, at her home with her son, George, and Sandy Sikes by her side. Ruth’s wish was to die at home and her wish was granted by God. She was born January 1, 1926, in Island Falls, the daughter of William and Hester (Forsythe) Markey. Ruth leaves behind four children, Mary Twitchell, Robert Lavigne and his wife, Sharon, George Lavigne, and Therma Mitchell and her husband, Randy; her sister-in-law, Sylvia Edgerly; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her special friend, Charlie the bee keeper; a special niece, Jackie May and her husband, Jim; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband, Roland, she was predeceased by a special daughter, Sue Cartwright; a grandson; five brothers; and two sisters. The family wishes to thanks Sandy Sikes and Ann Ryder for taking great and compassionate care of their mom and to the North Maine Woods for giving their mother and father the opportunity to work the gate systems. They loved the people they met and their best years were enjoying nature! A graveside memorial service will be held 11:30am Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the Greenville Cemetery. After the service the family invites all to gather for a reception at the American Legion Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the C.A.
