I met Warden John in 1962 while hunting near Boyd Lake. I had a small game license (I was 12 at the time) but was deer hunting and he knew it because I had a shotgun full of buckshot. Just then a rabbit hopped out and I had no choice but to shoot it. He laughed out loud and said, "Good shot! Try bird shot next time - it won't ruin so much meat." He knew, I knew and I learned from it. Thank you, John!

Kathy, Bob, and family, My sincere sympathy to all of you. He was such a great person. I remember hearing stories about him from your Mom when we worked at Milo Hospital together. She always made me laugh, and when I finally got to meet John, it was like I already knew him from the colorful way your Mom "painted" him. Thinking of all of you at this time. A true Patriarch of your family.

I am so sorry for his family and friends. I remember visiting he and his wife when my son was under one year old. They were some of the kindness people I knew. Not to mention the moose meat his son got and many of us snowshoed up and cooked burgers. Some of the best burgers I have ever had!!! RIP. ❤️

I’m so sorry to learn of your loss. John was a very special man. We shared many happy days fly fishing and telling stories. He taught me a lot about fishing and about life in Maine. Eli was also a great nurse ,mother and wife. She also taught me a lot as a young Dr. I have many happy memories which I will cherish. I feel fortunate to have gotten to speak with him last week, and to have known the both of them. Life goes on .
