Dear Mrs. Knightly & Family,
I had your husband/father as my bookkeeping teacher when I was at Lawrence High School many years ago. I have thought of Mr. Knightly over the years but I had no idea where he was. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and I offer my heartfelt sympathies to all of you. Mr. Knightly was a kind, funny and very good teacher. I still use much of what he taught me so long ago. I only wish I could have told this to him. Again, my sympathies. Warm regards, Mary Conant

Dear Knightly family,
So sorry for your loss.
Carl was a very honest and respectable man.
He was our family account since 1988.
He was especially unique in that he made house calls to do our annual taxes.
He will be missed
Sincerely,
The McCarthy family

I am so sorry to hear of Carl's passing. I not only was a teaching colleague of Carl's in Lawrence, I also worked with him part-time at Lawrence Plate Glass Co. where he worked part-time on their accounting books. Carl was also well known to all teachers as the head of the Credit Union. He was a true professional but more importantly a gentleman with a great sense of humor. We are all diminished by his passing. My sympathy to his family.

I knew Carl from when he lived in North Andover. Our families were friends, and I have many fond memories of him. He was a great bridge player, had a quiet sense of humor and was a great guy. My condolences to Sonja and her family.

We affectionately called him “Uncle Carl” for his special treatment of the kids who availed themselves of the services of The Lawrence Teachers’ Credit Union. He gave us the best financial advice and did so with kindness and humor. A one of a kind..

It is with great sadness that the Lawrence Teachers' Union learned of the passing of Carl Knightly.
Carl was a long time Business teacher at Lawrence High School, the Assistant Business Manager for the Lawrence School Department, Treasurer of the Lawrence Teachers Credit Union, and the long time accountant for the Lawrence Teachers Union.
He epitomized what it was to be a professional.
He was a popular, kind, and caring teacher who was beloved by his students and colleagues.
He made a difference.
He will be missed.
