I extend condolences with sympathy and sadness at the loss of a truly beloved man. Edwin’s zest for living and genuine kindness reached far and wide, extending way beyond the classroom where I was first introduced to his jovial spirit and sweet soul. May you find comfort in the many cherished memories of him and in the loving thoughts and prayers being sent your way during this difficult time.

Sincere condolences to all of Edwin's family for the loss of this remarkable man and stalwart soul. I had the good fortune to have Edwin as my teacher for both my freshman and senior English classes. In fact, I believe our Honors English class may have been his last before retirement. He had a profound impact on my education and was an excellent role model for how a man could pursue a life of service. It was a privilege to remain in touch with him these many years since both of our Penquis days. And now a great loss for the entire community. My thoughts are with you all.

Edwin was one of the kindest and most decent men I have ever known. He was my all-time favorite teacher who challenged us and made us think. He brought out the best in his students and he did this showing them love, patience and understanding. And always with a twinkle in his eye. As I came to know him as an adult, the more I appreciated his character, his goodness, his genuine love for all his fellow beings. When he asked me to call him Edwin, I had a tough time remembering to do so as he was always, "Mr. Treworgy" to me, such was the respect I had for him. Eight years ago he and Ethelyn became my neighbors on Alton Street. Twice a year, during my visits, one of the highlights of my trip would be a visit with them in their beautiful home. Once when I hosted an overnight birthday celebration with some of the girls from the class of '65, we invited him over. As we all loved to sing, we pulled out some sheet music, Gail Rhoda T. played my grossly out-of-tune piano, and we belted out some tunes. I don't think any of us will forget singing, "He" and listening to his beautiful voice. I'm grateful for those 8 years of getting to know them and of still learning from him. I loved his wit, intelligence, compassion and his great kindness. I will miss our visits and talks, our memories of living in Milo. I will miss this wonderful man. My love and condolences to Ethelyn and to the family.

I have many fond memories of Mr. T and how he pushed me to be better and to ask questions when I didn't think any needed to be asked. His class was always one of my favorites, though I still haven't read Moby Dick.

My dear brother Edwin was always there for us. We loved his mischievous sense of humor, his serious interest in others, his selfless willingness to spend hard work and hours of thought on behalf of others. His bottomless pit of time spent listening and offering help. His wonderful singing voice. He was the first person I ever accompanied, when I was 12 and he was 16, and we had many gigs while we were both still living in Milo. I will never forget his and Ethelyn's help and caring during my family losses. He wrote so many wonderful letters, emails and poems. I will miss you greatly, wonderful brother.

I love this photo because not only does it capture dad's lighthearted personality, but his pointing to the camera reminds me that he always was about the other person, not about himself. Keep looking forward, he'd always tell me, not backward!
