Joel was a great person to work with as well as to know. He always was helpful and mindful of peoples needs and concerns. He was always striving to improve the program he supervised. Joel leaves a large hole in the hearts of us who worked with him for so many years but remembering his quick dry humor helps fill it. My thoughts and prayers go out to Diane and the family.

He'd stopped by my office a few weeks ago and we talked about how some days were good and some days not so. My last text conversation was me hoping that "this day is a good day". He replied "I love the smell of the air this time of the year. It is a beautiful day. Enjoy it girl." The photo on the obit. is perfect. He will be missed by many.

To Joel’s family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Joel at the Friends of Community Fitness Center. I will always remember his smile. I would often see him walking his dog by the house, if we were out he would stop and talk. I will miss seeing him.

I had the privilege and pleasure to know Joel for almost fifteen years. Joel was a strong presence at the correctional facility and many an inmate owe Joel a debt of gratitude for the skills and work ethic he modeled and then instilled in them. Joel could always be counted on to be a calming voice of reason in a sometimes chaotic and high stress environment and he and I shared quite a few humorous conversations over the years... Joel... rest easy bud. God Bless you.
