Steve, I am sorry for your loss, but am glad you were able to spend some time with him over the past few years. Death is as much a part of the life-cycle as birth. It just happens to be the most painful for those closest to the deceased. The very best to Elaine and you and hope to see you in the not too-distant future. Bob.

My mother Elaine (Collins) Kerr once told me a story about when Uncle Bruce was younger and he was getting picked on by other kids. My grandfather then taught Bruce how to box and after a few tussles, that was the end of him getting picked on. My mother said he was a tough kid after that. I remember Uncle Bruce as being a quiet man but very nice. I know he was a career man in the Coast Guard and retired after serving his country for many years. Uncle Richard told me that his brother Bruce was a hero when he served because he risked his life to save others on more than one occasion.

So sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He was my neighbor in Beaver Cove before he moved to Greenville. I rode w/him on several occasions into the woods. He took me to places I never knew existed. We shared a drink or two while he cooked-roast pork was a specialty. I enjoyed his stories about the numerious places he visited while he was in the Coast Guard.
