Rocco running Lava Falls in the Grand Canyon in 1998. Rocco loved paddling whitewater and was fun to watch. When the runs got tough he all ways had a quick one liner to ease the tension. We miss you buddy!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pizzo family. Rocco will be truly missed. All of our memories are great ones- from UMO to the woods and lakes around Greenville. Whenever we visited our camp when it was in Greenville I would tell the kids "my buddy Rocco planted those" whenever we passed a softwood growth, even if they were not his! His woodsy knowledge led us to the 1st of many successful moose hunts. His toe-nails may have been painted but he knew his stuff! RIP my friend- have a cold one with the old man!

Rocco was like another big brother to me.
I still recall him teaching me how to swim in our back yard pool. Teaching me how to shoot a bow and arrow ( he gave me his beginner set that he had when he was younger).
And hearing about how much he loved the Moosehead Lake area.
The fact that I had not seen Rocco in over 30 years is evidence of the positive impact he had.
A great person taken from this world far too soon.
My sincerest Condolences to The Pizzo family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Rocco's passing at such a young age. We first met at UMO as students in the forestry department. Later,we worked together at the Bureau of Parks and Lands, and I always enjoyed the days we spent together in the woods. Rocco had a great sense of humor and we always made even the most terrible weather day into a fun event. He was a great dad and you could tell that Izabelle was always uppermost in his mind. Being a parent myself, we had lots to talk about. I haven't seen him much since he left BPL, but he has always been on my mind. Again, so sorry.

My fondest memories of Rocco include enormous amounts of laughter, irreverence, fun and friendship. Also alcohol, sometimes mixed with plant food.
Thinking of those who have been left behind, and wishing all the peace that loving memories can bring. Rocco, you may have lost the battle, but I'd say you won the war. Xoxo

Rocco's infectious smile and quick wit brought laughter to all who had the honor of knowing him. The consumate outdoorsman, Rocco was skilled in the woods and on the waters of this state that he loved.
He adored Izabelle and Laurie, and his beaming smile as he spoke of them proved his love for both.
The thought of him brings a smile to my face. I was one of the lucky ones that knew him for a long time, meeting him as a young college student, and then through his career as a forester. Ski patrolling and rafting were passions that we shared.
A man to be admired, he will be missed.
Thank you to his parents for raising such a wonderful human being, and to his family for the support and love you shared through his lifetime.
