Milo – Gayle (McLaughlin) Shirley, 91, passed away January 4, 2017, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born September 24, 1925, in Milo, the only child of Percy and Nellie (Hamlin) McLaughlin. She attended Milo schools and the University of Maine where she earned a Master’s in Education. She taught in Milo and Brownville schools for over 35 years. She was a lifelong member of the Milo Baptist Church. She is survived by her son-in-law, Lester Knapp of Knapp Avenue, Milo, and members of the Milo Hamlin families. She was predeceased by her parents, and her daughter, Betsey Shirley Knapp. A funeral service will be conducted 1pm Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Milo Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating.
