Gayle was my college roommate for 3 years at the University of Maine. We kept in touch over the years, exchanging Christmas cards. I will miss her.

Gayle and my late mother had an enduring friendship of 80-some years. I believe they were classmates. In later years, because they both had various infirmities, they mostly kept in touch by phone. My mom always enjoyed a call from Gayle with what she called "Milo news." I hope Gayle's family and friends find that, in time, their memories take them to a peaceful place.

I grew up next door to Mrs. Shirley. My mom, Kathy Wibberly enjoyed visiting with Gayle and after my dad died my mom frequently chatted with Gayle either by phone or from her front porch. Even after my mom died I enjoyed stopping by to chat with Gayle and catch up on the neighborhood news. She was quite a lady!

I will always remember Mrs Shirley and her great kindness to me as a student at PVHS. As a senior and a member of the first class to graduate from the new high school, I had the privilege of assisting Mrs Shirley in the library. She always met me with a smile and was never discouraged about the great task of setting up a new library in a new school! Instead she made it fun and interesting for us, her helpers..
I will always remember her and her very positive influence on me. RIP dear Mrs Shirley.

Gayle was a wonderful cousin and friend. Taking the time to share with me her
Knowledge of past generations of the family, she was a patient, loving teacher.
We had many happy visits and rides around town and to Lakeview.
She was resilient in the aftermath of personal tragedy, turning to church and
family and friends. I will always be grateful for her. And will always be grateful for
The wonderful care given her by her son- in- law, Lester Knapp.
