Mark and family, Charlie and family,
I am so sorry about Cheryl. There are no words that can ease this pain. In time, God just gives us a better way in dealing with such loss. You never forget but God replaces so much of the grief with smiles of special memories and time shared together. May the love and times shared throughout your life provide you with some comfort and strength in getting through this very difficult time.
The laughs and reminiscing shared with you and Cheryl on my last trip home was so much fun Mark. God bless Cheryl and may God bless you all.

Cheryl and I shared the same name and the same birthday! She was younger than me and a friend of my sister Ellen, so I never actually “hung out” with her but was always aware that she was a fun loving and wonderful person…of course she was - she was a Ryder! Later, during the construction of the new sewer plant, she and I were flag girls for Shepard Brothers of Hallowell, sometimes long grueling days in the heat and suffocating dust. We shared that we frequently had some anxiety and panic attacks and we each became familiar with the telltale signs of the other having an attack. We learned that laughter is really the best medicine and she sure could make me laugh. I can only imagine how much she will be missed by all in the ‘Ville and I will be thinking of her family and friends whose hearts are broken right now.

Cheryl has been my friend since I was Twelve years. She befriended me and gave me her shoulder to lean on. I will never forget the kindness she showed me. From that on we had many adventures together. Cheryl was a naturally talented athlete. We played many a game of pig or horse which she won more than her fair share. But like most things Cher was good at she never was boastful or full of herself. There was many things Cheryl excelled at besides athletics. Her gardens she loved and cared for are beautiful, her baking for Liam, Nola, Mya, and Violet not to mention Mark's lunch pail. Keeping her house in spit spot condition so many things. The love she held for her family was reflected back in how they cared for their wife, mom and grandmother when she became sick. They were so attentive and loving it was so affirming to me, Cheryl had made a big difference in their lives. As she has in our lives. It's very hard for me to think of Mark without Cheryl because since we were kids, that's how it's been they childhood sweethearts. We always knew they'd end up together. They built a wonderful life for themselves on the hill and both appreciated the beauty and specialness of that place. We loved our adventures big or small, from finding lady slippers out back while riding the trails in the ranger to venturing to the Outer Banks to watch the sunrise /sunset on the beach, kayaking the alligator river, to horseback riding on the beach. Our skiing trips to Saddleback where we enjoyed the condo shenanigans. There were countless coastal trips to Boothbay, Eastport, and Ogunquit to our many Christmas shopping trips. These times and many many more meant so much to our "framily." Our times together were filled with love and laughter and reminiscing of our youthful escapades. Cher was there for all of it, she and Judy breaking into a ghs cheers or dancing to our oldies at camp. The fires we always had to have to gather around and listen to the loons calling in the twilight. The snowmen we made in our favorite spot in the field that caught the afternoon sun and warmed us as we sat with a beer and laughed at our anatomically correct creations we had made. Hoping Maren would see him and give us hell. and truthfully, these memories don't even scratch the surface of the fun and adventures we had together.. Our group our "framily" has been there for each other through our joys and sorrows. I know Im not the only one with a broken heart we all carry grief in our own way. Someone said or I read it, You don't get over grief you go through it. A journey that can be heartbreaking and heart affirming- To know you had someone in your life that added so much to it. I really thought we had many more years of adventures together, but I am grateful for what we did have,"I'm so glad we had this time together to have a laugh or sing a song seems like we just get started and before you know it comes to time we have to say so long..." Not good bye Cher we will meet again, if our moms let us!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
