Obituary of Carol Glover Blanchard

Dover-Foxcroft – Carol Glover Blanchard, 74, passed away peacefully August 7, 2024, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, with family at her side. She was born July 8, 1950, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of John A. and Barbara (Roberts) Glover. Carol attended Dover-Foxcroft schools and was a Foxcroft Academy graduate, Class of 1968, before attending the University of Maine-Orono. Carol played in several area bands and served as a board member, secretary, and treasurer for many years of the Brewer Hometown Band. While Carol’s boys, Chad and Ryan, were younger she spent many enjoyable years as a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed weaving and quilting and created many beautiful gifts for family and friends. An avid reader, she had also achieved Master Gardener certification and had enjoyed creating beautiful gardens for many years at her home. She loved spending time at the family camp in the “Big Lake” at Sebec Lake. Carol owned and operated Smokey’s Pizza in Dover-Foxcroft before she spent a career as the office manager at the Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft for 37 years. Carol is survived by two sons, Chad Blanchard, and Ryan Blanchard and partner, Ronnie; two brothers, Jeffrey Glover and wife, Jan, and John Glover and wife, Lian; two sisters, Janis Glover and husband, Rick Beebe, and Gail Glover and husband, Dan Joyce; six nieces and nephews, John Glover II, Justin Glover, Rachel Glover, Julia Bronson, Owen Joyce, and Evan Glover; and good friends, Holly Melia, Sue Hall-Dreher, Karen Baker, and Pamela Smith. She was predeceased by her parents. Memorial visitations will be held 5-7PM Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A private committal for family will be held in the family lot in the Rural Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Memorial contributions may be made payable to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 West Main St. Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are in the care of her work family at the Lary Funeral Home.
