Obituary of Russell C. Martin

Please share a memory of Russell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rockwood - Russell C. Martin, 38, died unexpectedly on October 9, 2023. He was born on April 11, 1985 at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He attended Rockwood Elementary School and then was homeschooled by his very patient mother. He grew up on Moosehead Lake hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. Russell’s ability and passion for deer hunting was exceptional, which made his dad very proud and those were the best times they had together. He enjoyed learning about the logging history of the area. He was a talented craftsman and worked most of his career in the family business, Martin Quality Home Builders. Russell loved any vehicle that had an engine that he could soup up, and he passed that love on to his children. He also worked in the woods and was skilled at operating any piece of equipment, including E.J. Carrier’s barge on the lake. He loved to take his children on Moosehead and Chesuncook and passed on his passion for the outdoors to his kids. He was someone you could always count on, he was generous, and he always made you laugh. Russell was late for everything but he always showed up. He could always tell who might have a struggle and would encourage and take time for them. He was predeceased by his Grampy and Nanny, Jim and Arlene Jardine, and his Uncle “Bub” Gerry Jardine. He leaves behind his three wonderful children, Aiden Watt and girlfriend, Brooke Bolstridge, Ben Martin and girlfriend, Aleshia Raymond, and Allie Martin, and his special friend, Lisa Anderson. He will be forever treasured and loved by his parents, Buddy and Jan Martin; his grandparents, Karl and Lorraine Martin; his sister and brother-in-law, Kourtney and David Ray; his nephews and nieces, Davy, Katelyn, Kayla and Daniel; his uncles and aunts, Brenda Cameron, Sue and David Leland, Lenny and Brenda Jardine, and Jill and Kyle Rich; and his cousins, Tyler, Hilary, Marshal, Patrick, Mary, Josh and Sarah. All are welcome to join us at Grace Bible Church, 40 Douty Hill Road in Sangerville on October 20th at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, we have set up a fund for his children. Donations can be sent to Jan Martin, PO Box 265, Rockwood, ME 04478. Thank you to all who loved, prayed, helped, and encouraged us and sent cards and yummy food. We appreciate you.
