Brownville- On Monday, February 27th, 2023, Galen M. Larson, loving husband and father of four, passed away in his home at the age of 83. Galen was born on January 13th, 1940, in Brownville. He was the son of Jean and Hilmor Larson. Galen graduated from Brownville Junction High School and shortly after, he went to Boston to attend Dental Technician school. After becoming a dental technician, he worked for different dentists in the area for 62 years. He recently retired from Dr. Daniel Steinke’s office, where he worked for many years. In 1960, Galen married the love of his life, Joan (McCleary) Larson at the Methodist Church in Brownville Junction. They had four wonderful children; Scott (Jean), Tami (Steve), Traci (Jeff), and Teri (Kevin). Galen is well known in the sports community for his many years of coaching including: soccer, basketball, softball and golf. Galen continued his love for sports by attending local sporting events, including watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Galen was predeceased by his siblings, Tish, Tiny, Roger, Charles, Dorita, Ronnie, and Stanley (who died in the Korean War). In addition to his loving wife and children, he is survived by his siblings, Gary (Elaine), Larry (Gail), Maria (Norman), and Verna (John); 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friends Jamie Russell, Torrey Ellis, and many others. Galen’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family who he loved unconditionally. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A celebration of Galen's life will be held 2-4PM Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Three Rivers Kiwanis Building, 15 Harris Pond Road, Milo. A graveside service will be held in the family lot in the Village Cemetery, Brownville, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
