Mr. Grant will surely be a missed here in the Sangerville community. I surely will miss talking with him about fishing and hunting. He was a very pleasant, kind hearted man. Big hugs to the family for your loss. Debbie (Postmaster)

Susan and Cindy,
So sorry to hear about your Dad. It was always great to see him at Grant Reunion. I think he really enjoyed talking and seeing everyone there. My thoughts are with you and your families.

While my heart aches for the family and friends of Joe, I smile knowing that he and Gloria are together again. I have no doubt that Jesse was there to welcome his longtime friend to Heaven. Memories to cherish...

Susan, Cindy and families, My heart is broken. Joe was such a big part of my childhood. He and Gloria were like second parents to me. He was kind and generous and always had a good word. As Brian said, he was the last of the Mill Street adults from our childhood. I expect that they are all together playing cards and having a pot luck supper. God gained a great man.

I can fondly remember living across the street from Joe and Gloria. Joe always had a kind heart and a smile for me whenever I would see him, except for when we boys raided his garden for cucumbers and tomatoes. I can remember him showing me how to dig worms in his garden so he and I and my father could go fishing. When my friends and I wanted to build a tree house or cabin, Joe always offered lumber, nails, tar paper and anything else we needed and would come to inspect our work and offer suggestions. One year my mother wanted a bookcase for Christmas so Joe offered his support and said I could build it in his cellar. Every day after school I would sneak across the street to work on my project. He would always come down in the cellar and check on me and my project and offer suggestions on how to build it. Sadly, this marks the end of the Mill Street Gang, our close knit group of families and best of friends.

When Gloria and Joe were first married, they rented three/four rooms in the upstairs of our house; thus they were a constant in my family’s life. Joe loved to tease me ( especially about boys) and make me blush. I can still see his big smile and hear his boisterous laugh whenever he made me blush.
Once when our dog Lassie was a puppy, she found my brother’s homemade fishing pole and the fishing hook was stuck in her mouth. It was Joe who came to the rescue and took the hook out of Lassie’s mouth.
It was also Joe who, at the request of my mom, took my pet robin, Jenny, whom I had rescued and raised, with him into the woods where he had been working to be released into the wild.
As my brother, Bryan, said , Joe’s passing “marks the end of the Mill Street Gang, our close knit group of families and best of friends.” Rest in Peace
