Sangerville - Althea M. (Crabtree) Rodgers, 91, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital after a brief illness. She was born to the late Harry and Louise (Looke) Crabtree on August 14, 1931, in Abbot, Maine. Althea was married to John Starbird in 1950. They were married for 37 years and were blessed with three beloved sons. She was proud of her many years working at Dexter Shoe and Guilford of Maine. Later in her life she was married to Alfred (Fred) Rodgers for seven years. They moved to a little log cabin in Willimantic where Althea found many years of peaceful living. She took great joy in feeding her birds, deer, and any other animal that crossed her path. Althea was an avid cook and baker and never tired of making special treats for her children and grandchildren. She took pride in keeping a meticulous but cozy home, beautiful flower gardens, and had a special way of making anyone who visited feel at home. There was never a lack of food, candy or conversation. In addition to her parents, Althea was predeceased by her siblings, by her husband, Alfred Rodgers, and special friend, Ivery Webber. She will be sadly missed but forever remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law: John Jr. and Jayne Starbird of Arrowsic; Jeff and Sheila Starbird of Dexter; and Jere and Kathy Starbird of Sangerville. She also leaves behind four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
