Dick was such an influence to so many students that passed through his classrooms. I enjoyed having Mr. Millett as a Physics teacher at FA in the early 90’s. A little later in my life I was lucky enough to be hired at FA. I was lucky enough to team teach Principles of Technology with Mr. Millett during his last year. I learned A LOT!! What a great guy!! The Amazing Sled Race and the Anything That Floats Race were great traditions that I was able to keep going until things changed at school. I had such a hard time calling him “Dick”! I had such respect for the man! Everyone did!! Eventually he asked me if I could please just call him Dick. When I started at FA I found I gained 2 more Dads. Dick, Pete Classen and my real Dad (the last Earth Science teacher at FA) all kept an eye out for me. It was great to learn from all three of them! Last Fall I drove by “The Millett’s” house and I saw Dick and Thelma out sitting in their AdaronDICK chairs and I stoped and said HI. It was such a great time!! They will be missed by MANY people far and wide! My words cannot even begin to describe the sense of loss I am feeling. He will continue to be in many of the stories that I tell the students about the history of FA.

Dick and I went to school together and graduated in the same class of 1952. His dad, Howard, was the superintendent of Carmel high school at that time. Dick and I always stayed in contact and he and Thelma and I talked with each other several times each year. Dick and Thelma were great people, and I will miss them very much.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Millett’s family.
I will always remember our talks about baseball, his laugh and smile, and that bear trap handshake.
