I'm a good friend of Mr. White's son, Don, and always will remember the good conversations with Mr. White on my numerous visits to their home on Summer St. in Northboro. I particularly remember the twinkle he had in his eyes when he told a atory and it was clearly evident to me how important his family was to him. When they moved to Maine I didn't get some see him as often, but when I did visit the White compound, he would always greet me warmly and call me by my high school nickname, Harty, which I thought was quite amusing.
Mr, White lived a long robust life filled with laughter and family. We should all be so lucky!! Great job Mr. Cal White! I can now picture him laughing and sharing stories with Mrs. White.
My condolences to Doug, Don, Kenny and Nancy. Like me you had a great father!

I loved Uncle Cal's quick smile and laughter. He loved life and knew how to have fun like riding a bike backwards at family events. I treasure times we talked about Nature, his military experiences, family, and his travels. He listened to me when I talked. He never was in a hurry to put the spotlight on himself or be thinking of how to answer before I finished That is very rare. Uncle Cal was caring and kind-hearted. Most of all I will miss his laugh. I think every family should record loved one's laughter. We need to hear it some days after they're gone. Uncle Cal compassionately counseled me when Dad "acted up". He was the only person I know who could say to my Dad "you could've handled that better" and be listened to without anger or protest. I'm very sad that I won't be able to see the sparkle in Uncle Cal's eyes or receive a hug or hear "love you" again, except in my memories. I send my love to Uncle Cal's family and friends. I know you are hurting. It's a sad time because it's the end of the White and Smith family Elders. Our Elders gave so much of themselves to family, community, and country. My life was blessed by having Uncle Cal in it. I'm very grateful for the long life he shared with us. I wish my heart could speak because Uncle Cal meant so very much to me. I don't know how to convey that. I hope he knew. I think he did.

To Don and his entire Family I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't know your father only from our conversations but if you are anything like your dad he must of been a great guy! God bless.
