Obituary of Ruth Warren Nason

Sebec and Dover-Foxcroft - Mathilda Ruth Warren Nason of Sebec made her journey to Heaven on March 14, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born the daughter of Charles Sair Warren and Goldie M. Hoxie Warren of Milo, Maine. Ruth grew up in Milo and attended Milo High School. She married Clyde Nason of Sebec and they had five daughters and also raised her brother’s son. When work was hard to find in Maine, Clyde and Ruth moved to Southington, Connecticut where they both worked at Stanley Tool. Always wanting to move back to Maine, they saved every possible penny and bought the Sugar Shack, a little store at Sebec Four Corners, from Clyde’s mother, Stella. They renamed the business Green Acres General Store and it was here that Ruth thrived as a small business owner and entrepreneur. People loved her homemade pies, meatball subs, pizza, fresh seafood and so much more in the old-time general store. She loved to feed people and never let anyone go hungry, whether they could pay for their meal or not. She had a generous heart. A strong believer in community service, and as a role model for others, Ruth served on the Mayo Hospital Board and was a hospital volunteer for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Cosmopolitan Club of Dover-Foxcroft and served in many leadership roles. Ruth was the organist at Sebec Village Church for many years and also served several terms as Town Clerk and Selectman for the Town of Sebec. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Clyde and her special nephew Danny Warren. She was also predeceased by her parents, brothers Robert Warren and Charles Sair Warren, Jr., and one son in law, Robert Varnum. Ruth leaves her five daughters - Carol Cress of Dover-Foxcroft, Elaine Weltzin and husband Rick of O’Fallon, IL, Ruth Varnum of Bowerbank, Joyce Mazerolle and husband Steve of South China, and Shirley Wright and husband Peter of Dover-Foxcroft. Ruth leaves 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She also leaves two beloved sisters in law, Helga Nason and Elsie Watters. She will be sadly missed by all as she was so loved and cherished. Private services for the family will be held this week. A graveside burial will be held 2PM Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Sebec Village Cemetery. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at the Sebec Village Community Christian Church following the burial.
