My sincere sympathy to the family of Barbara Richards: her daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and all who loved her.
I had not seen Barbara for many many years but I remember stopping by her home in Atkinson with my cousins when we walked from Aunt Jeannette's and Uncle Leon's, past Aunt Dot's and Uncle Phil's and on to Aunt Helen's and Uncle Wilbur's. As a young girl (Rachel Speed's daughter) visiting from Massachusetts and with no relatives near by, I was absolutely enthralled to have so many family members in the same community. I must have walked that road a hundred times and I always felt the same, that Atkinson was a very special place. Barbara was always kind and welcoming. I also attended the Quilt Show several times and it was certainly inspirational. Having lived downeast for nearly fifty years, I wish I had realized Barbara's connection to Princeton, Calais and Eastport, all places I know well. May God comfort you during this sad time.

To Jo, Lois, Fay, and your families, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. I got to know Barbara when she was my neighbor on Mechanic Street for several years. She was a sweet lady and a very talented lady. May many years of wonderful memories help to get you through this difficult time.

I was privileged to be welcomed into Barbara’s home as a teenager. She was one of the “cool mom’s” who opened her home and allowed us to have a safe space to have fun (and get your ears pierced). We were blessed to have you in our lives ❤️
