Avis was the ultimate class act. She made everyone she met feel like they were her world. She listened, loved, and cared for everyone from the depths of her heart. We have known Avis for over 25 years, every minute of her friendship was a gift. We have several of her "colorings" in frames hanging in our kitchen. It gives us a warm feeling to walk by them, almost like you could feel her in the room. Her life was a role model for us all. Whoever wrote her beautiful obituary was spot on, 108 years wasn't enough. Rest in peace Av, you are going to be deeply missed but left this world a better place.

I was honored to be with my “Grammie” when she quiety left this earth. She had whispered just two days before, “You won’t go before I go, will you?” She knew I had traveled a long way (from Virginia) and had already been there several days, and she had not asked this of me up to this point.
It was her only request of me, for she was not one to make demands. She never said, “Please call me, “ or, “When are you coming to visit me?” Instead, she said, “I know you are busy. Just call me/come see me when you can. I’ll be here!”
She lived her life with love, a special joy, and a strong dose of humor and mischief. She made me laugh and made me feel loved always.
I read recently that the best way to remember someone you loved is to “be the things you loved about him/her.” I will surely try.
Please join me in remembering my Grammie, and share your memories and thoughts with us all.
