Barnard – Joel Alan Briggs, 56, died unexpectedly at his beloved home in Barnard. Joe was born at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. Joe is survived by his parents, Gary and Maureen (Preble) Briggs; siblings, Kevin Briggs and his husband, Mark McLaughlin, Christopher Briggs, and Kelly Briggs. Joe was previously married to Tracy Cranmer and they have two children, Justina Ludden and her husband, Darby, and Nicholas Briggs and his fiancée, Alice Crane. He leaves three grandchildren, Natalie and Samuel Robinson, and Dawson Ludden; two nieces; a nephew; and many cousins. Joe loved to hunt and fish, one of his favorite places was Mill Brook Pond. Joe was a master plumber and got his start working with his father at Briggs Plumbing and Heating and he eventually owned his own business. Joe spent many good years with his partner, Brenda Hughes. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. A memorial service for close family and friends will be held 2:00PM Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Sebec Village Church. A burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family at 24 Lamson Road, Sebec, ME 04481, to help with expenses.
