Jerry taught us a lot about antiques, local history, and life. Watching him work a field filled with antiques was impressive; he could zero in on objects of value that a thousand people would have ignored. He believed in science and the importance of education, and he quietly helped people and organizations that needed a hand. Our conversations over the years covered a wide range of subjects, and our shared meals (especially with Phil Ward) always included laughter. He was an independent thinker who had the tenacity to succeed in a field where many fail. He was a good friend, and we will sorely miss him. Kathy Brown and Bill Ellenson
