Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Greenville and Auburn – Christopher A. Lavigne, 39, passed away April 23, 2021, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 30, 1981, in Bar Harbor. Affectionately known as “Chip,”“Bub,” or simply “Lavigne.” Christopher always embraced Greenville and Moosehead Lake as home. Chris graduated from Greenville High School and went on to receive two bachelor degrees at Thomas College, where he both studied and excelled in competing for his school in the sport of golf. He worked in logistics and sales, and quickly created close bonds with everyone in his office, as he did wherever he found himself in life. Working in Maine also allowed him to return to his friends and family in the Greenville area, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating. He loved being a homeowner in Auburn, and cherished the relationship he made with his two neighbors. Chris will be most remembered for his big heart and positive outlook on life. He was everyone’s cheerleader and never hesitated to lend an ear when asked. His quick wit was unmatched and he could always find a way to fill the room he was in with laughter. Faithfully following his Grandfather George Irvine’s mantra to “root, root, root for the home team,” Chris was a superfan of New England sports. He loved the Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. But it was the Red Sox that always held a special place in his heart, binding him to his grandmother, Inez Lavigne and aforementioned “Grampy George.” His “Nan” (Duddy Blanchard) introduced him to one of his favorite pastimes; cribbage. Chris was well known, and beloved, in Portland’s competitive cribbage scene, seeing success in both singles and doubles play. He also had a very special place in his heart for animals and recently became the proud owner of Zoe, a lab mix rescue puppy. As a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin, and proud uncle; family meant everything to Chris and he cherished his wonderful friends from near and far. Chris is survived by his parents, Larry and Julia; brother, Scott Lavigne and his wife, Michaella; niece, Olive Lavigne; grandmother, Lois Irvine; uncle, Stephen Irvine; aunt, Sheila Irvine; aunt, Glenna Irvine; cousins, Julie Genest, Jessie Genest and her daughter, Isla, James Irvine, and George Harvell; along with aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Lavigne, Irvine, McIver, and Blanchard families. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Inez Lavigne and Mercedes “Duddy” Blanchard, and grandfathers, Fred Lavigne, George Irvine, and Harold “Doc” Blanchard. A graveside funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the Greenville Cemetery with Pastor Genise Stern officiating. The public is welcome to attend and all CDC guidelines will be followed including asking people to socially distance and wear masks.
