DOVER-FOXCROFT, GLENBURN, BANGOR – Jonas Lloyd Finnemore, 86, passed away on February 15, 2021, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, after a long battle with heart disease and vascular dementia. He was born March 7, 1934, in Caswell, the son of Jonas and Nellie (Burgoyne) Finnemore.
He worked many years hand-sewing shoes at Dexter Shoe, Dexter, then found his calling as a millwright at Great Northern Paper, Millinocket. After GNP closed he joined the union and traveled throughout the country installing GE power plant turbines before returning to Glenburn, where he designed and built his home.
He loved to go camping and fishing with his family, especially with his sons.
He was predeceased by his parents, six sisters, three brothers, and his former wife, Virginia. He is survived by his daughter, Nanette (Nannie) and Tracy Redmond, two sons, Jayson (Blue Jay) and Gaby of Clinton Township, Michigan, and Paul (Buckshot) and Dawn of Linden, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel (Jennifer) Redmond; Sabrina, Matthew, Nicholas (Audrey) Finnemore; Ashley Marshall, and Samantha (Peter) Fleming, as well as five great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, and his sisters, Almeda Durepo of Lee, NH, and Leona Dow of Sebec, Maine.
Due to COVID restrictions there will be no service at this time. A graveside memorial service at the family lot in North Atkinson Cemetery will be scheduled at a date to be determined in the spring or summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Activities Department of the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, Maine 04401. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
