Guilford - Johnathan S. Giles, 67, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 8, 1953, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Geraldine Giles, Wendell Giles, and Johnathan Mayhew Sr. John was a hardworking, self-made man who worked for Eastland Woolen Mills, Scott Paper Co., and Guilford Industries in his younger years. He went on to owning his own auto body shop where he specialized in building custom mud trucks. John was as self-taught mechanical engineer who could build or tinker on anything that ran on fuel. In his later years he owned John Giles Trucking until he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed anything nature had to offer but fishing secret holes deep into the Maine woods was his favorite pastime. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Giles; his children, Christina and Scott Marsh, Jessica and Anthony Willis, and Amanda and Jason Miles; his grandchildren, Elaina Bennett, Bradley, Cameron, and Cassidy Marsh, Caleb Wills, and Easton Miles; his 5 sisters, Voni Burke, Debbie Tibbetts, Laurie Gardner, Mari Edgecomb, and Kim Faloon; and his 4 brothers Sanford, Tim, Jeff, and Chris Giles. He was loved by the Giles and the Mayhew families his entire life and for that he was grateful. John was predeceased by his father, Johnathan Mayhew Sr., his father Wendell Giles, and his grandparents, Ida and Danville Mayhew. At his request there will be no funeral service at this time but the family plans on a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers you can thank your local trucker by buying them a coffee to show your appreciation. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
