Obituary of John Vern Patterson
Abbot - John Vern Patterson, 75, passed away at his home on November 22, 2020. He was born on April 26, 1945, in Dover-Foxcroft to Vern and Pearl (Cann) Patterson. He was married to Ramona Nelson on January 29, 1966, and they had 2 children together, Lorrie-Ann and John Vern Jr.
John had been an avid hunter and fisherman and shared many stories of his experiences. He enjoyed watching the wildlife outside his kitchen window, especially feeding the birds. He would say “look Sheryl and her boyfriend, Russell Crow, are back”! He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, solitaire and listening to old time country music. He especially enjoyed the visits that he got from his kids and grandkids!
He loved what he did for work having driven truck for Haley Construction for many years from 1967 up until his accident in 1983.
John was a very proud man, and one thing he took great pride in was acquiring the land that once belonged to his grandparents and his namesake, John and Carrie Patterson. He also took great pride in each and every one of his grandkids; he would always put a Barney tape in and watch it with all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Patterson; two children, Lorrie-Ann and her husband, Stephen Bell, of Dexter and John Vern Patterson and his partner, Theresa Spelios, of Dover-Foxcroft; six grandchildren, Devyn and her husband, Andrew Shorey, Jordyn Bell, Kamden Bell, Raven Patterson, Haylee and her husband, Mitchel Noyes, and Eve Patterson; 1 great-granddaughter, Payson Likely. He leaves his sisters, Linda and her husband, Jim Drinkwater, Brenda and her husband, Skip Larson, and Cathy and her husband, Tim Grant.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Vern and Pearl Patterson; and his sister, Patricia and her husband, Bob Barnes.
