Obituary of Durene B. Prouty
Dover-Foxcroft – Durene B. Prouty, 82, passed away peacefully November 3, 2020, at Northern Light Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born September 19, 1938, in Veazie, the daughter of Edgar C. Sr. and Barbara (Braley) Prouty.
After attending Bangor High School, Durene spent a number of years as a nanny to a family in Bangor. She was a waitress at Pat's restaurant in Veazie, which was her favorite job. Durene spent many years working at Prouty Ford in Dover-Foxcroft. She was always content to spend time with her best friend and sister, Joyce, who never stopped working to ensure she was happy and well cared for. Durene was an avid fan of western movies, coffee, and hot dogs.
Durene is survived by her loving sister, Joyce Sherman; brother, Edgar “Bud” Prouty Jr. and his wife, Kathy; two nephews, Shane Sherman and his wife, Barbara, and Edgar “Trey” Prouty III and his wife, Kim; two nieces, Tricia Mercer, and Allison Sands and her husband, Wesley; and 9 great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother-in-law, Amasa “Stubby” Sherman Jr.
