Obituary of Charles E. Hesketh
Charles (Charlie) Edward Hesketh, age 88, died on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, in Kennebunk, Maine.
Charlie is survived by his son Philip Charles Hesketh and his wife Valerie, of Sanford, Maine, his brother John Hesketh and his wife Sue of Mahomet, Illinois, sister Caroline Hesketh Fitzpatrick and her husband Jim, of Whitefield, Maine, grandsons Zachary Hesketh of New Gloucester, Maine, Conor Hesketh of Dover, NH, and his step grandson Hunter Doolittle and his wife Shelly, of Portsmouth, NH. He also leaves behind his close cousin George W. Levensalor. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Sara (Sallie) Ramsay Hesketh, and his daughter Melinda Hesketh.
Charlie was born on September 3, 1932 in Sebec, Maine, to parents Norman Record Hesketh and Bernice Ellen Dow. He graduated from U Maine Orono in 1954 with a BS degree in Agriculture. Charlie was proud to serve his country during the Korean war as a Sargent in the Army. Charlie was a great family man and a loving father. He married Sallie in 1956 and the couple adopted two children together. In 1968, he and his family moved on to the family dairy farm to take over the running of it for the next 5 years. Following the sale of the family farm in 1973, Charlie took a position with Penquis Surge, where he worked for more than 20 years. Charlie and his wife served on the Piscataquis Fair Committee, as well as the Maine State Fair Committee, traveling the state reviewing and enjoying every state and county fair. Charlie retired and, along with his wife, moved to Alfred, Maine in 2005 where he could be closer to his son and grandsons.
A private graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 on Saturday, October 24th in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. The Reverend Mello will officiate. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation for their care of and attention to Charlie in his final days. Also, their thanks go to the staff at Mayflower Place where Charlie resided from 2016 to 2020.
