Obituary of Diana E. Burton
Milo – Diana E. Burton, 85, entered Heaven’s Gate on August 10, 2020. She was born May 17, 1935, in Milo, the daughter of Orrin P. and Beatrice E. (Hoxie) Lyford. She lived in the Milo area all of her life. Diana worked at Hathaway Shirt Co. in Dover-Foxcroft for many years and then worked at Dexter Shoe Co. in Milo until her retirement.
Diana’s whole life revolved around her family and she enjoyed cooking for them around the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas where they all enjoyed eating the multitude of pastries she would bake. She enjoyed 4-wheeling with her son, Randy and his wife, Karen. Diana flew for the first time in 2014, when she flew to Florida with her son, Steven and his wife, Cheryl, where she enjoyed the palm trees and Florida weather. She had been an auxiliary member of the American Legion for 48 years, and had served as president multiple years. Diana rarely missed Friday night bingo and served in the kitchen. She was famous for her yellow eye beans and many pies she brought.
Diana was predeceased by her loving husband, Hanford “Sonny”; her parents, Orrin and Beatrice; infant daughter, Vickie; brothers, Jack Hoxie, Roland Lyford, and Donald Lyford; and sisters, Ardis Lyford and Anita Edgerly.
She is survived by her sister, Glenice Blethen of Longview, Texas; two sons, Steven and his wife, Cheryl, of Barefoot Bay, Florida, and Randy and his wife, Karen, of Garland; granddaughters, Tricia Cesena and her husband, Nick, from St. Albans, Megan Bell and her husband, Robert, of Belgrade, Erin Burton and her friend, Carlos Maloon, of Ripley, and Melissa Sewell and her husband, Micah, of Litchfield; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
