Obituary of Kenneth L. Leger

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sebec - Kenneth L. Leger, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 19, 2020. He was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to Leo and Ethel (Doucet) Leger on August 15, 1952. Ken was a man with a huge and loving heart who gave of himself to anyone in need always putting others first. Ken loved to do projects around his home and could often be found working on one of his vehicles fixing whatever was needed with his vast knowledge of mechanics. His favorite way to relax was spending time at the lake or local pond in his canoe fishing, a passion he shared with his children. He had a green thumb growing a garden for the last several years and sharing the bounty with his friends. Ken grew up in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where he joined the U.S. Navy serving from 1971 – 1974, employed as a Boatswains Mate on the USS Nitro ammunition ship. After retiring from the Navy, he went on to become a welder/fabricator working and living in several New England states finally settling in Maine. He was part of the Big Dig Project in Boston. In 1975, he and his former wife welcomed the first of four children who were the loves of his life. Later his family grew when he met and married his loving wife of 17 years, Priscilla and welcomed two step children. He never hesitated to give whatever he could to any of them. Ken was a loyal member of Living Word Assembly of God and later of Restoration Church in Dover-Foxcroft, where he served on the worship team, as a board member, treasurer, and deacon. The job he enjoyed the most though was working in the kitchen on Fellowship Sundays and with any other special event that was taking place. He is survived by one sister, Jean Carle of Texas; his wife of 17 years, Priscilla; his children, Bethany of Virginia, and Daniel of Maine; stepchildren, Brandon and Gabriella, both of Maine; 5 grandchildren, Kelsey, Austin, Trinity, Ethan, and Alex; niece, Shannon; and nephew Chris. He was predeceased by his parents; and heartbreakingly by two children, his daughter, Heather, formerly of Vermont, and son, Jacob, formerly of Maine. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 in Dover-Foxcroft. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family however due to COVID-19 restrictions the service will be by private invitation only. Please accept the family’s apologies for this. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local food cupboard. Arrangements are in care of Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
