Dover-Foxcroft – Rachel S. Berce, 74, passed away April 18, 2020, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor. She was born August 30, 1945, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Dwight R. and Frances R. (Bell) Strout. Rachel attended Dover-Foxcroft schools and graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1963. She worked in administration at boarding homes for over 50 years, including Dexter Boarding Home for over 40 years, where she worked as the office manager and administrator. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends most. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, and her mother. Rachel often went out to dinner or had dinner with her sister, Lindy, and her mother on Friday evenings. She will be deeply missed by her classmates of 1963, and their special group of friends who got together often. Rachel was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed cheering for her favorite driver, Jimmie Johnson. Rachel is survived by her mother, Frances Strout; her son, Eric Berce and his significant other, Rhonda Flewelling; five grandchildren, Anna Kate Rideout, Morgan Rae Berce, Olivia Berce, Rayna Berce, and Raylen Berce; four sisters, Beverly LaCroix and her husband, Larry, Joanne Sincyr and her husband, Jack, Lindy Warren, and Cindy Curran and her husband, Peter; special friend, Mary Ann Berce; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, and her sister, Donna Mallett. A graveside memorial service and celebration of Rachel’s life will be announced later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northern Light Cancer Research, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Lafayette Family Cancer Institute, Brewer, ME 04412.
