Monson – Mary Jane (Leavitt) Erickson, 86, passed away peacefully April 15, 2020, at her home. She was born November 16, 1933, in Willimantic, the daughter of John L. and Helen L. (Smith) Leavitt. She was proud of her ability to work for 50 years (48 years at Guilford of Maine and 2 years at Hathaway Shirts). Mary Jane enjoyed going picking berries, apples and fiddleheads. Her family was a very important part of her life. Mary Jane always enjoyed visiting with her family and many friends. A devoted member of the Monson Community Church, she attended faithfully every Sunday.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vaughn Arnold Erickson, February 2, 1978. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Edith Leavitt, Marjorie Hatch, Beatrice Storer, Elsie Goodridge, Pauline Meyers, and Thelma King; and brothers, Robert Leavitt, Gordon Leavitt, and Richard Leavitt. She is survived by her three sons, Galen Erickson and his wife, Shelly, of Bowerbank, Darrell and his wife, Kathy, of Willimantic, and Kevin Erickson and his wife, Ann, of Monson; twin sister, Marilyn Gordon of Rawlings, Maryland; 14 grandchildren, Travis Erickson, Liza Smith, Sabrina Erickson, Evaughn EricksonHolyoke, Ashlie McLeish, Tara Russell, Bradley Erickson, Tyler Erickson, Andrew Ryder, Brian Erickson, Ashley Hughes, Brandon Erickson, Kelsey Pelkey, and Alison McArthur; 22great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic there will not be any public services at this time. A celebration of Mary Jane’s life will be announced. Private burial will be in the family lot at the Lake Road Cemetery, Monson. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
