Planting crops with Grampy. These were the times when troubles felt few and far between, Grampy made sure if that. One of my favorite memories is when I walked outside without shoes and stepped on a bee stinger, and grampy heard me yelp and came running out of the garage, picked me up and ran me into the house. He soaked my foot in a pot of hot water and carefully pulled the stinger out. He even wrapped my foot up with an ice pack with a chair to put it up. He took care of us all. Miss you Gramps.

Carl was my grandfather but he was also a best friend. My after school talks with grampy would often surprise me because of the knowledge he had and shared. We often talked about the moon or fishing. Death ends a life not a relationship. So whenever I want to talk to him I can surely just look up at the moon or out on the lake.

Carl and I knew each other from his dedicated work in painting our camps in Sandy Bay. We became good fishing buddies and I guess, just buddies. We enjoyed many days fishing Rum Pond together. We caught a lot of fish and we shared a lot of stories together.
I particularly enjoyed Carl’s recollections of the days when Greenville fielded a football team. He weighed about 150 (maybe), but my guess is he was tough as nails. Rest In Peace my friend you will be sorely missed.
