Obituary of Flora Ann Anderson
Monson - Flora Ann Anderson passed away at her home in Monson on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. She was the daughter of Edward John Brown and Bessie Amber Bennett and was born March 5, 1935, in Lakeview Plantation, Maine. Her father worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and the family moved often living in Lakeview Plantation, Maine, Rusagonis Station, New Brunswick and Bodfish Station in Elliotsville, Maine. She finished high school in Milo, Maine, graduating as Valedictorian in 1952.
She married Milton “Mickey” Anderson of Monson, Maine in June of 1952, while he was home on leave from the Army. In 1956 Mickey was stationed in Germany and Flora and their two boys came to live in military housing in Babenhausen, Germany. In 1957 they returned to the U.S., now with three boys.
The family lived in Mickey's mother's home on Main Street in Monson until they bought a home on the Elliotsville Road where they lived for many years and had three more boys. Later she and Mickey built a house next to Leeman Brook where they have resided to the present day. The field in front of their house has been the site of many gatherings including a few weddings.
Flora and Mickey often traveled around northern New England and eastern Canada on vacations usually accompanied by Flora's sister, Beverly and her husband Robert “Bob” Roberts. Newfoundland was a favorite, making five trips there.
She always kept a garden and especially liked the blackberries and raspberries much of which ended up as jam and pies. Like many grandmothers, she was known for spoiling her grandchildren and brightened when they visited.
She worked for decades running wood lathes at Pride Manufacturing in Guilford Maine.
Flora is survived by her husband of 67 years, Milton Anderson, a sister, Beverly Roberts, a brother, Dale Brown, sisters-in-law: Florence Brown, Susan Forsythe, and Shirley Brown, sons: Irelann Kerry Anderson and spouse, Therese, Joel Milton Anderson, Victor John Anderson and spouse, Lori, Mark Emery Anderson, Wade Bennett Anderson, Tracy Wayne Anderson and partner Shelly Jardine, 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, and other relatives too numerous to fit here.
She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers: Charles Brown, Bruce Brown, and Wayne Brown, a sister, Helen McCorrison, two grandchildren: Bambi Anderson and Mickey Lee Anderson.
We would like to offer special thanks to Susan Forsythe who came to stay and help out in Flora's final weeks and to Lori Anderson who has been a continuous source of support.
