Obituary of Milford Maurice Strout
Charleston – Milford Maurice Strout Jr., 92, went home to be with the Lord and his late wife, Marilyn I. (McGray) Strout, December 22, 2019. He was born November 28, 1927, in Charleston, the son of Milford M. Sr. and Addie M. (Robbins) Strout. After growing up in Charleston, Maurice served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in wholesale groceries for many years, lived at and managed Kelley Mobile Home Park for his good friends, Jimmy and Betsey Kelley, for over 30 years, and was a faithful employee for Levasseur True Value Hardware in Millinocket where they had many special friends. After retirement, he and Marilyn moved to Bradford. He was a member of the Corinth United Methodist Church.
Maurice was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Marilyn, and eight siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Suzan Day and her husband, Richard, of Charleston; son, Peter McGray and his wife, Melissa, of Turner; eight grandchildren and their families, Nicholas Day and Kelley, of Charleston, Joshua and his wife, Arielle, of Charleston, Jacob Day and his wife, Amanda, of Surry, DesRae Day of Charleston, Thomas McGray and his wife, Jennifer, of Greene, Douglas McGray and his partner, Sarah Brunelle, of Minot, Benjamin McGray and his partner, Jennifer Young, of Tumwater, WA, and Samuel McGray of Turner; sister, Nathalie Strout Trafton of Corinth; 20 great-grandchildren; and many close sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Friends may call 3-4PM Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be held at 4PM with Pastor Rick Libby officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the family lot of Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston, in the spring.
