Obituary of Vaughn Avery Bradstreet

Milo - Vaughn Avery Bradstreet, 86, died unexpectedly December 4, 2019. He was born in Bridgewater on January 6, 1933 to Ralph V. and Evelyn A. (Lovell) Bradstreet.

 

Vaughn had a strong work ethic. He began working at age 14. He had many interesting jobs including cutting and delivering ice and harvesting potatoes in Aroostook county. He also managed his own small business mowing fields and delivering gravel. While working for the Maine Department of Transportation for 37 and one-half years, Vaughn maintained the Dover Road, drove truck, and a grader. He was lifelong member of MSEA. Vaughn and Marie resided in Milo in a home that he built when they were first married in 1953.

 

Vaughn is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie (Ellis) Bradstreet; his daughter, Carol Jean Sawyer; his sister, Beverly D’Arcy; brother, Earlan Bradstreet; grandchildren, Avery Sawyer and his wife, Jerusha, Elizabeth Vaughn, and Aaron Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Raven and Lark, Alexander, Aiden, and Vivienne,and Ashton and Charles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Steven Bradstreet; brother-in-law, Charles Ellis Jr.; son-in-law, Edward Sawyer; and siblings Charles, Lawrence, Nancy, and Judy. 

 

A celebration of Vaughn’s life will be held at 11:00am Saturday, December 14th at the United Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vaughn Bradstreet Scholarship Fund, c/o MSAD #41, 20 Howland Road, LaGrange, Maine 04453.
