Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Milo and Virginia Beach, VA - Our mother, Rose Hoskins Carlson, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2019, in Virginia Beach, VA.  She was the oldest daughter of Mary Eliza Crockett and Leroy Jerry Hoskins, born on the first day of spring March 20, 1921, in Milo. Rose was a 1939 graduate of Milo High School and attended Brockton Business College. She married the love of her life, Carl E Carlson, March 7, 1942, in Gardiner, just prior to his departure for WW II.

She worked for the Milo Education Department as a teacher, substitute teacher, writing teacher and finally as a teacher-aide. She was very active in many local clubs, as well as a devoted member of the Milo Baptist Church, where she played piano for many years. She loved music and played the ukulele, cello, and the piano, which she played throughout her life until her death. She loved to play cards and games and was a ruthless scrabble player.

She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Carl E. Carlson, in 1984, and her sisters, Ruth Clark and Pearl Johnston. She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Wade and husband, Dick Wade, and daughter,  Martha MacDougall and her husband, Arthur MacDougall; along with grandchildren, Rachel Frattarelli, Ashley Versteeg and her husband Matt Versteeg; Alex MacDougall, Kate MacDougall; great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Sofia, and Stella Frattarelli, and Phineas, Minnie, and Kingsten Versteeg; her sister, Janet Annis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our heartfelt thank you to the nurses and aides for their precious care of our mother these last days at Sentara Hospice House.
