Obituary of Harold A. Skelton

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Abbot- Harold A. Skelton (Diddy), lost his arduous battle with Alzheimer’s on September 10, 2019, at his home.  He was born March 31, 1933 to Florence Skelton in Bath.

Harold was a very humble, kind, gentle and thoughtful man.  Graduating early from Lisbon High School, he went on to be drafted into the U.S. Army and was a member of the Honor Guard for President Nixon.  He also worked for a time at Worumbo Mills in Lisbon Falls.  He then went onto truck driving which was his passion.

He loved the outdoors and would split wood, mow the lawn, or any other activity that kept him outside, no matter the temperature.  Another favorite activity was to go riding in the north woods with Diane, fishing and loving the scenery.

While he had no children of his own, he treated his step-children as his own.  Diane’s children are extremely grateful to him for being so good to their mother for the last 25 years.  The hole in their hearts will be felt forever.

He was predeceased by his mother; his brothers, Malcolm (Mac) Wallace, William (Syd) Skelton, Lendall Skelton and a special friend, Roland (Moonie) Mullen.

He is survived by his life partner, Diane Bibber and her children, Kathie Hills, Karen Bond, Linwood Bibber, Kelley Mank, and Kayce Bibber; his sister, Angie Mortimer; a special cousin, Herb Yeaton and his wife, Cheryl; several other cousins, nieces, nephews, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life and reception will be held at 2:00 pm, September 22, 2019, at the American Legion Hall in Richmond.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mt. Hope Ave, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.  Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
