Cathryn Buckley

Obituary of Cathryn M. Buckley

Harmony and Dover-Foxcroft – Cathryn “Cathy” M. Buckley, 60, died peacefully, surrounded by her husband and daughters, on June 21, 2019, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Cathy was born June 10, 1959, in Dover-Foxcroft, the youngest daughter of Ronald and Arline (Mischler) Dean.  She graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1977. After high school, Cathy worked for many years in manufacturing for businesses such as Moosehead and Dexter Shoes.  Most recently, she found her dream employer at Perfect Fit in Corinna.

Cathy enjoyed reading, bowling, card and dice games, traveling, and watching for hummingbirds.  If it was possible to have a whale for a pet, she would have had two.  In her younger years, she could be found roller-skating at the local rinks or gallivanting with the neighborhood kids and other cherished friends, to whom she remained close throughout the remainder of her life. She was an enthusiastic Boston sports fan and particularly loved watching football on Sundays.  She often could be heard yelling at the TV when the Patriots made a good (or bad) play. Cathy had the art of cooking pasta down to a science and would stand at the stove, testing the noodles until they were just right.  She especially loved the music of the ’60s and ’70s, the novels of JD Robb, and the Harry Potter series, which she’d listen to while she worked.  She treasured time spent with her large family (and never needed a calendar to remember a birthday or anniversary), and she particularly loved being “Nana” to her grandchildren.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 13 years, Michael Buckley of Harmony; daughter Deborah Hollingshead and husband Andrew of Glen-Burnie, MD; daughter Andrea Parker and husband Chris of Alton, NH; daughter Sherrie Zimmerman and partner Kathy of Elk Grove, CA; step-daughter Lauren Buckley of MA; step-daughter Meghan Stubbs and husband Branden of Ellsworth, ME; and five grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Beatrice Sauvage and husband Jim of Buckeye, AZ; sister Barbara Dean of Vacaville, CA; sister Martha Andrews and husband Sam of Atkinson, ME; sister Grace Langley of Presque Isle, ME; and brother Joseph and wife Tami of Olney, England; as well as extended family including aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Mary Beth.

A celebration Cathy's will be held 1-4PM Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the VFW Hall, Cedar Street, Dexter.
