Obituary of Clowes Lee Brown

 

Elliottsville – Clowes Lee Brown, 74, passed away peacefully April 16, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 14, 1944, in Mars Hill, the son of Eric Clowes and Velma Lee (Holmes) Brown. Clowes worked as a self employed logger for many years after serving our nation in the United States Air Force. A Vietnam veteran, serving as a Sergeant for the U.S.A.F. he worked as an Aircraft Load Master. Clowes was a very proud American and a patriotic man. He was a member of the American Legion Towne-Holbom Post 116.

 

Clowes will be remembered by his family and many friends as a committed family man and for his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed attending the horse pulls, antique cars, anything with an engine and the many enjoyable summer afternoons on his screenhouse swing with his wife Patty and Golden Retriever Maddie. Clowes’ most joy came with spending time with his grandson, Bensyn, as they went on many tractor rides, pony rides, and four-wheeler rides.

 

Clowes is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Patty (Hubbard) Brown; daughter, Laura Pollis and her husband, Steve; grandson, Bensyn Pollis; sister, Ruth Tierney; sister-in-law, Linda McBrierty; special niece, Rebecca Brown and her husband, Troy, and their daughter, Zoe; and numerous other beloved nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his Friday poker group. Clowes was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Montsaul, Royce, and Carl.

 

Family and friends may visit 6-8PM Monday, April 22, 2019, at the Lary Funeral Home Greenville Chapel, 281 Pritham Avenue, Greenville, where a memorial service will be held 3PM Tuesday, April 23. A committal service with military honors will be later in the spring at the family lot in Lake Road Cemetery, Monson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monson Historical Society, P.O.
