Garland and Dover-Foxcroft – Alton J. Brown, 86, husband of the late Yvonne (Robinson) Brown, passed away March 25, 2019, at his residence in Garland. He was born January 29, 1933, in Lubec, the son of Edgar J. and Delia M. (Carter) Brown. Al was predeceased by his brothers Robert Norton, Eugene Brown and Walter Brown. Al was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Al had worked as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed time spent with photographer Paul Knaut taking scenic pictures around Maine. He was also an ordained minister. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with family and friends.

 

Al and his wife, Yvonne, split their time for 20 years living in Dover-Foxcroft and Myrtle Beach, SC. Their “winter” friends in Myrtle Beach became life-long family members.

 

He is survived by his children, Jeff Brown, Jim Brown and his wife, Bonnie, and Juli Kimball and her husband, Steve; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Billy Brown, Lisa Brown and her children, Emily and Bruce, Joe and Haley Brown and their children, Jack and Josie, Colby Kimball and Topanga King and their children, Arieahna and Octavia, Benjamin Brown, Garrett Brown, Jon Brown, Doug Brown; and many nieces and nephews. Al will be remembered by a special friend, Fred Tyler of Cambridge.

 

A graveside memorial service for Al and Yvonne, who passed away December 8, 2018, will be conducted 10:00 a.m. June 8, 2019, at the family lot in the Dover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Northern New England Region, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME  04086-12240.
