Obituary of Yvonne R. Brown

Garland and Dover-Foxcroft – Yvonne R. Brown, 83, of Garland, formerly of Dover-Foxcroft and Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away after a quick illness, December 8, 2018, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, with her family around her. Yvonne was born August 13, 1935, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Bennie and Madeline (Gould) Robinson. She lived a long life filled with family, friends, laughter, joy, and love. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Yvonne leaves behind her husband, Alton J. Brown, her beloved partner for more than 62 years of marriage; their children, Jeff Brown, Jim Brown and his wife, Bonnie, and Juli Kimball and her husband, Steve; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Billy Brown, Lisa Brown and her children, Emily and Bruce, Joe and Haley Brown and their children, Jack and Josie, Colby Kimball and Topanga King and their children, Arieahna and baby on the way, Benjamen Brown, Garrett Brown, Jon Brown, and Doug Brown. Along with her family, her “sisters” of 50 plus years will miss her dearly. Her birthday sisters helped to make her life complete.

Yvonne and Al split their time for 20 years living in Dover-Foxcroft and Myrtle Beach, S.C. In Myrtle Beach friends became life long family members to Yvonne and Al.

Yvonne was a graduate of UMO with a Masters in Education. She ran the Little Red School House for many years until its closure. She showed a special interest and compassion for all of her students.

A graveside memorial service will be held 10AM Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the family lot in Dover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maine Special Olympics, 125 John Roberts Road, #5, South Portland, Maine 04106. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
