The Maddona you gave me for my birthday sits in my room with the inscription: "Faith like the human spirit, lasts forever". Today, that seems more real than ever. Your kind and fiery spirit will live in the lives of my family, my children, our friends and myself forever. I am grateful for the time we shared and the lessons you taught me. I will never forget you, and a piece of you will forever live in my heart.
May your soul rest in peace for eternity.
My most sincerest condolences to your children and family. I will keep you guys in my prayers.

I was sorry to hear this news of Joe's passing. Although we were very different people from different backgrounds, we had the same values and I really enjoyed visiting with him when he stopped by my shop. For the past few months I would sometimes look out at my parking lot expecting that maybe he would stop in. He always reminded me that he was the vice president of my airplane company......he will always be.

I heard this terrible news earlier this week and I was shocked and saddened. Joe was simply too young to leave this world already.
I remember Joe with a grateful heart because I saw him change the lives of children. He approached those students with common sense, a great sense of humor and persistence and he changed lives. Not many of us can say that...
I have only seen Joe on two occasions since I left Greenville, but he has never been far from my heart. I often tell people about Joe and the students he supported. He is an extraordinary example of how an ordinary guy can make a huge difference and that matters! I still think of him with fondness and with a smile on my face!
I will miss you Joe...God bless you and all of your family, I will keep you in my prayers...

He was truly an amazing friend and even though I haven't seen him in quite a few years I feel his loss terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Joe Munster was a larger than life figure from my childhood who only grew larger and in a wider circle of friends and family as time went on. I have many fond memories of Joe growing up (I've described him as looking like and thinking of himself as David Lee Roth from Van Halen in the early 80s). He was my brother firefighter for many years. And he never failed to say that thing in any circle that no one else would dare say. And many times in life he would do the things no one else would dare to do. He lived up to his self-proclaimed namesake: "Half man, half amazing". I will miss him as will so many others. He was, and is, dearly loved. I'm sorry, so sorry, we couldn't save you, Joe. God bless you.

Mrs Munster and all the Family - - this is terrible news for me. Joe was the first person in townto befriend me when I worked at Mt Kineo Cabins for the Wallingfords 1986-87 - - Those were great days, Joe, Karl and cousin Mike always kept me entertained and made my tiome there much better. Joe was always ffirst to help when something was wrong.
to learn that my old friend is gone so soon is horrible but my memories of Joe are all good - he never let me down. Fish on Joe - - Heaven can always use a good guide!!

In 2004 I was stationed in Rangeley and wanted to fish the Moose River. As I searched for a guide on the internet, guess who first responded to my calls... but Joe. I remember him saying "Hey Father, I'm a Catholic too. Let's go fishing". That cemented a long friendship.
There were times he caught more fish than me (if we were using streamers) but dead drifting nymphs I could whip him. He called the 3' dia. rock below the dam the "priest's rock." There he would put me to catch all the brookies and salmon I could ever dream of. Many a propeller we busted fishing there but Joe never minded. He had a collection of a dozen outboards or so all in some stage of repair.
We've been thru some good times and bad together haven't we. But you always respected my cloth and point of view. I guess now it's my turn to respect yours. God loves you Joe and so do I. Watch over us your many friends waiting here below...

This photo was taken the week of Thanksgiving when I spent the week with my dad hunting. I was trying to take a photo while he was driving, so he wouldn't have to stop, but when he asked what I was doing he put the truck in park, turned off the heater so there was no sound, just so I could focus and take this beautiful photo. He was a selfless man and I will always remember all of the good memories that I had with him and everything that he has taught me.
