Obituary of L. Elvira Hobart

Blanchard Twp. – L. Elvira Hobart, 85, wife of the late Paul E. Hobart Jr., crossed over to heaven May 1, 2016, at Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was born March 28, 1931, in Bethel, the daughter of Elmer A. and Lydia Pamela (Hall) Stevens. Elvira had been a school bus driver for 16 years, and was a former tax collector for Blanchard Plantation. She was a member of the Nazarene Church and was active in the church’s Ladies Group. She also served as a weather observer for NOAA. Elvira will always be remembered for her outstanding gardening. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Alan Hobart and his wife, Diana, of Blanchard, and Rick Ellis Hobart and his wife, Patricia, of Garland, TX; two daughters, Mary Ann Sweet and her husband, Dennis, of Castle Rock, CO, and Bonnie Jean Hobart of Pointe Claire, Quebec; 12 grandchildren, Peter Hobart, Jackie Riitano, Brian Sweet, Eric Sweet, Karen Lakey, Michael Piette, John Piette, Daniel Piette, Pamela Cassidy, Oein Cassidy, Paul Hobart, and Nathan Hobart; and ten great-grandchildren, Abigail and Grace Riitano, Amelie and Louis Piette, Kiaren and Gabriela Hobart, Aiden and Jordan Sweet, Ashlyn Lakey, and Ellison Hobart. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital and staff for it’s compassionate care to Elvira. A graveside service will be conducted 4:30pm Friday, May 6, 2016, at the family lot in Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Guilford.
