Obituary of Fred Leroy Stevens

Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Monson – Fred “Sonny” Leroy Stevens, 76, passed away unexpectedly June 23, 2018, while walking his lab, Ike, at his favorite place, “up to camp” at First Roach, Frenchtown Township. He was born July 29, 1941, in Enfield, the son of Fred and Marion (Ginn) Stevens.

Fred was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He worked for 37 years at Great Northern Paper Co. in Millinocket. After retiring from GNP he started making woodcrafts which he sold at local fairs and the Greenville Fly-in, which was always his favorite. You never had to wonder what Freddie was thinking because he always said what was on his mind. Fred was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0116 in Monson.

Fred is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jackie (Jacobsen) Stevens; his daughter, Paula Gendreau and her two children, Kara and Kurt; his son Jeffrey Stevens and his wife, Alicia, and his two children, Gabrielle and Jonathan; his daughter, Tammy Gamage and her husband, John, and her two sons, Lucas and Jackson; his son, Michael Stevens and his girlfriend, Amy Lucas; and his great grandchildren, Catalina, Jenalise and Alijah. He also leaves his sister, Hazel Oliver, and two brothers, Dale Stevens and John Stevens.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Linwood Ginn and his wife, Jane; his sister, Shirley Wing and her husband, Dick; and his son-in-law, Mark Gendreau.
