Obituary of Kenneth MacLeod MacKinnon

Brownville Junction- Kenneth MacLeod MacKinnon, 97, passed away June 5, 2018, at his home, joining his wife, Althea, and great-grandson, Mitchell Smith. He was born February 4, 1921, in Oak Bay, Quebec, Canada, the son of Robert and Elvira (Bryant) MacKinnon. Ken was a proud WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from Nov. 24, 1942 until his honorable discharge March 29, 1946. He was an active member of the Brownville Community Church. Ken enjoyed traveling with his wife, snowmobiling up into his late 80’s, fishing, telling stories, and nightly trips looking for moose. 

 

He is survived by his three daughters, Doris Coburn and her husband, Jack, Bonnie Ellis, and Anne Hathorn; six grandchildren, Cliff Coburn and wife, Erica, Julie Appel and husband, William, Felice Lyford and husband, Todd, Heather Suetin and Husband, Andrey, Ben Johnston and wife, Jennifer, and Molly Johnston and husband, Brian Krisch; thirteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to his wife, great-grandson, and parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his sister, Marion Cail and her husband, Pearly; and three brothers and their wives, Oliver and Margaret, George and Orpha, and Harold and Florence.

 

The family wishes to thank Beacon Hospice, and nurses, Amanda, Ashley, Brett Anne, Cindy, and Shannon, for all their compassionate care of Dad; he really enjoyed you. Also, a special thanks goes to Barbara and Jocelyn.

 

A funeral with masonic services will be conducted 10am Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Brownville Community Church. Burial with military honors will be in the family lot at Pine Tree Cemetery, Brownville Junction. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brownville Community Church, P.O.
