Obituary of Earl A. Gray

Sangerville- Earl A. Gray, 88, went to greener pastures on December 2, 2017, to be with his wife, Phyllis. He was born on April 30, 1929, in Sangerville, the son of Alvin and Dorothy (Carle) Gray. Dad was my mentor and my hero; as he treated everyone equally and with respect to all. He always had a smile and a kind word that made everyone feel good and he was respected for his wisdom. Earl was a farmer and woodsman most of his life, with only a few years where he worked in various woolen mills. He loved spending time with his family and friends and would tell wonderful stories of times from the past. He was an avid gardener and helped many people with his advice. The squash he raised was featured in local newspapers.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Wendy Rolfe and partner, Trudy Gerry, of Detroit; special girlfriend, Florence Giles of Sangerville; grandson, Chris Rolfe and Sue-Ann of Sangerville; granddaughters, Judy Rolfe and Kerry Benton, of New Hampshire, and Angel Morse and Morris Young, of Columbia; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, Makenzi; special nephew, Alvin Gray and Trina; special friend Julie Harrington and Hank; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Christine (Phyllis) Gray; son, Philip E. Gray; baby daughter, Earlene P. Gray; mother; father; and brother.

Friends may call 6-8PM Thursday, December 7, 2017, at the Lary Funeral Home, 21 Oak Street, Guilford, where funeral services will be held 11AM Friday December 8, 2017, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating.
