Obituary of Thelma B. Ross

LaGrange - Thelma B. Ross, 80, passed away peacefully October 23, 2017, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft.  She was born May 5, 1937, in Charleston, the daughter of Ralston A. and Nellie G. (Robbins) Strout.

Thelma grew up in Charleston and Bradford before moving to Mars Hill as a teenager where she worked the harvest and picked potatoes.  In 1961, she married Melvin Fletcher and remained married until his death in 1968. In 1970, Thelma moved to LaGrange and married Keith Ross and remained married until is death in 2012. She enjoyed knitting, watching Western shows on television, visiting friends and family, and going out to eat.

Thelma is survived by her son, Crosby Fletcher of Dover-Foxcroft, her daughter, Christine Fletcher of LaGrange, two sisters-in-law, Sandra Lufkin of Arizona, and Joyce B. Ross of Dover-Foxcroft; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered by a special friend, Scott Brasslett and his wife, Jodie, of LaGrange. Thelma was predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Fletcher; her second husband, Keith Ross; her brothers, Aubrey, Edgar, and Leon Strout; and her sisters, Florence Turner, and Roberta Acore.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a date to be announced. Burial will be in the Puddledock Cemetery, Charleston. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
