Leroy Koppenhaver, Jr.

Obituary of Leroy H. Koppenhaver, Jr.

GREENVILLE—Leroy “Busta” H. Koppenhaver, Jr., 60, passed away in the early morning hours of June 6, 2017, at Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He was born on March 30, 1957 in Brunswick. He spent his childhood years enjoying the outdoors of Harpswell, Maine.

He graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in 1975. After a very successful career in management at LL Bean, Busta moved permanently to the Moosehead Region in 1996. He created Moosehead & Jackman Matters, the local newspapers for each respective area, in 2008. A project, his “baby”, he managed until the time of his passing.

Busta will be remembered by many for his “larger than life” personality, his personalized nicknames, and perhaps most of all, his generous heart.

He loved the natural world, and was famous for his gardens and landscaping abilities. So much so that numerous people, familiar or otherwise, were known to stop Busta in his yard to comment on the beauty of his handiwork. As much as this annoyed him, as it kept him from maintaining the very yard they were remarking on, his habitat was a source of great pride and he secretly enjoyed the attention.

Anyone who was lucky enough to enjoy one of his culinary offerings left the table better for having partaken of his food-prep talents.

He is survived by his sister, Kate, of Harpswell; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Maine and Pennsylvania; and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Lorantine (Brillant) Koppenhaver.

According to his wishes, there will be no service. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at C.A. Dean Memorial Hospital for their care. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Pritham Avenue, Greenville, Maine.
